On Dec. 14, 2017, MD Anderson Cancer Center honored the legacy of NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager Sr. in a ceremony dedicating “Craig’s Court” in the Children’s Cancer Hospital. The dedication took place nearly one year after Sager died of acute myeloid leukemia.
Sager’s wife, Stacy, shared a few remarks, along with Craig’s doctor Naveen Pemmaraju, M.D., who wore a colorful jacket Craig had given him, along with Muzaffar Qazilbash, M.D., Craig’s stem cell transplant doctor.
Pemmaraju and Qazilbash joined MD Anderson president Peter Pisters, M.D., in helping Stacy and her children cut the ribbon to dedicate Craig’s Court.
Craig’s connection to MD Anderson will live on through Craig’s Court, where MD Anderson’s pediatric cancer patients and young adults spend time playing Sager’s beloved basketball during their cancer treatment.
MD Anderson is grateful for the support and friendship of the Sager family as we remember Craig. His passion and zest for life continue to inspire us to #endcancer. #SagerStrong
